Cooper County deputies arrest two after finding more than 80 grams of methamphetamine

Cooper County deputies arrested Andre Lee and Jami Pate on Friday after officers saw a car cross the center line of traffic on Highway 5.

When deputies approached the vehicle they immediately knew Pate because she had just been in a traffic stop and was taken into custody for narcotics paraphernalia and possession of a firearm.

Lee told officers he had no idea who the car belonged to and was just trying to get to Columbia. Pate also said she did not know who the car belonged to.

A K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted officers that there were narcotics in the vehicle.

Officers searched the car and found two digital scales, a large quantity of methamphetamine and two broken glass smoking pipes.

Pate and Lee were taken to the Cooper County Detention Center where officers found more methamphetamine on Pate.

According to the probable cause statement, the methamphetamine that was found weighed approximately 81 grams. Officers also seized a couple of “Stinger Detox” mixers used to flush out narcotics from urine for those who have to drug test.

Lee was charged with trafficking drugs and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pate was charged with trafficking drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and delivery or possession of a controlled substance at a jail.
