Man charged with burglary after police find fingerprints on broken glass
A man has been charged with burglary and property damage after Sedalia police officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of West 11th Street for reports of a break-in.
The victim told police that someone had entered her residence and stolen some items overnight while she was sleeping. She said she was missing $80 in cash and a bag of M&M’s.
Officers noticed that a window in the kitchen was partially open and the glass on it was broken. They also found pry marks and damage to the rear garage door and damage to the front door frame.
Police collected a piece of broken glass from the kitchen window and found two sets of fingerprints on it.
The fingerprints came back belonging to Jacob Haulcy and another man.
According to the probable cause statement, Haulcy at first denied his involvement with the burglary but later admitted to helping the other man get into the kitchen. He denied going into the house and said he did not take anything.
Police said Jacob has at least three prior convictions for stealing.
