Columbia police investigating early morning shooting on Derby Ridge Drive

Columbia police said they are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning near Derby Ridge Drive.

Police said officers got reports of gunshots around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Derby Ridge and Bold Ruler drives.

When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings in the area, police said.

Police said during the investigation, a female victim contacted officers saying she was driving on Derby Ridge when her car was hit by bullets.

Officers found two bullet holes in the woman’s trunk and one bullet hole in her passenger door, police said.

Police said the woman’s car was the only property damage they found from the shooting. They also said there were no reported injuries.

Police said there is no suspect information at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police asked if anyone has information about the shooting, they should call the Columbia Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
