CVB report shows tourism-related spending up in Boone County

Columbia city officials announced that the Convection of Visitors Bureau’s annual report for 2017’s fiscal year was released.

The report summarizes projects from the years and describes upcoming projects.

The report shows an increase in tourism-related spending in Boone County, which went from over $412 million in 2016 to over $420 million in 2017.

Officials said tourism-related employment also rose to 12,272.

“This year’s annual report reflects on everything from hard data to the large-scale projects we tackled, including bidding for Missouri State High School Activities Association events and hosting tens of thousands of visitors for the Total Solar Eclipse,” Amy Schneider, director of the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, said. “I‟m very proud of what we were able to accomplish at the CVB last year and the team is excited to continue pushing forward with new initiatives to grow tourism in our community.”
