Police investigate suspicious backpack in downtown Columbia

Columbia police investigated a suspicious backpack on Tuesday morning in the 100 block of 4th Street.

Police said a Tribune employee called officers when they noticed the backpack in their parking lot.

ABC17 crews noticed crime scene tape up in the area and a few patrol vehicles surrounding the lot.

Officers told our crews nothing was found in the backpack.

The scene was cleared.
