Windy and fairly seasonal into the evening
TUESDAY: It’s been a chilly morning across Mid-Missouri, but clearing skies and southerly winds are slowly warming us up. Highs into the afternoon hours will quickly rise above the freezing mark, with most locations topping out in the mid 40s. The only limiting factor would be high level clouds that stream into the region. Through the day, winds will begin to pick up and become quite gusty. This will lead to an elevated fire danger, so outdoor burning is extremely discouraged.
TONIGHT: Winds will really pick up through the evening out of the south, maintaining the breezy conditions. We’ll see winds anywhere from 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. With the southerly winds in place, temperatures for the most part will level off in the mid 30s under partly cloudy skies.
EXTENDED: Into Wednesday, even warmer conditions are expected as southwest winds up to 20 mph carry in the mild air. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 50s under partly cloudy skies. However, another cold front will move through Wednesday night and temperatures will only reach the low to mid 30s by Thursday afternoon, then fall into the teens Thursday night. A few flurries are possible Thursday afternoon, but the biggest change will be cloudy skies and significantly colder conditions to follow. After a cold end to the work week, temperatures will briefly climb into the 40s Saturday as winds shift to the south once again. The warming won’t last long as another surge of cold air moves in by Sunday along with a slight chance of rain and snow. Watch ABC 17 news and check back on our website for updates to your forecast.
