Strong gusty winds Friday, with slight rain chance by evening

TODAY: It’s a mild start to your Friday, as highs are sitting in the lower 40s across Mid-Missouri. Winds have been sustained out of the south up to 15 mph and will gradually increase through the morning into the afternoon hours. This will lead to some very windy conditions across Mid-Missouri, as winds will likely gusts up to 40 mph through the day. Increasing clouds will bring the chance for some sprinkles from 7 to 9 AM, with warming conditions expected. Highs will top out in the lower 60s under a mix of sun and clouds.

TONIGHT: Winds will remain breezy through at least midnight, as a cold front tracks through Mid-Missouri. Most locations will stay dry with the frontal passage, excluding southeastern Mid-Missouri which could see upwards of .25″ of rain. The timing of the rain looks to arrive after 10 PM and end overnight Friday into early Saturday morning. Following the rain, winds will subside and temperatures will cool into the mid to upper 30s for lows.

EXTENDED: Rain will come to an end early Saturday morning, with cooler air spilling into Mid-Missouri. The coldest air holds off until Sunday night into Monday as a secondary cold front tracks through the region. This frontal boundary will be moisture starved, so any precipitation looks unlikely. The coldest day looks to be Monday, where many locations will hover in the low to mid 30s for the afternoon highs. The cold weather will stick around briefly, as another spring tease will take shape through the middle of next week. It will be a warmer end to January, with signs of colder conditions arriving just in time for February. Another cold front is set to track through Mid-Missouri Wednesday into Thursday, which will not only bring an end to our spring tease but the potential for some winter precipitation.
