Jefferson City High School names Terry Walker as new head football coach

Jefferson City High School officials announced on Wednesday that the new head football coach will be Terry Walker.

Walker replaces former Jays’ football coach Ted LePage who resigned Dec. 10, 2017 after 12 seasons with Jefferson City. The Jays finished 3-7 last season.

Walker served as the head football coach at Blair Oaks High School for the last three seasons, totaling a record of 37-3. Walker helped lead the Falcons to the Class 3 state semifinals last year. In his three years at Blair Oaks, the Falcons reached the state semifinals twice. Blair Oaks did not lose a game in the regular season with Walker as its head coach.

Blair Oaks officials said Walker will continue his responsibilities as a middle school mathematics teacher until the end of the school year.

Before his time coaching, Walker attended Jefferson City High School and played linebacker for the Jays. He then played two seasons with Missouri before serving in the Air Force for 22 years.

The superintendent for the Blair Oaks R-II School District, Dr. James Jones, said, “Our football program has flourished under his leadership and will continue to do so in the years to come. The Blair Oaks Family wishes Walker the best in his next chapter.”
