Columbia police detain man accused of damaging items in Gerbes

Columbia police said they detained one man after officers were dispatched to the Gerbes Supermarket in the 200 block of East Nifong Boulevard on Wednesday morning.

Police said the man was taking items off the shelves and eating or drinking them. The man was also accused of being belligerent.

Officers said the investigation is on-going.
