Four Columbia police K-9s receive bullet and stab protective vests
Four Columbia police K-9’s received bullet and stab protective vests.
The vests were donated by Vested Interest in K-9s, Inc, a non-profit organization.
ABC17 previously reported that K-9s are invaluable assets to a police department. All four Columbia police K-9s assist in narcotics detection including area, article, and body search, as well as suspect tracking and apprehension.
The non-profit’s mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The organization has provided over 2,700 protective vests in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a cost of over 2.3 million dollars.
Police said it costs $950 in donations to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K-9.
