Man charged with leaving the scene of accident after wrong way crash in Montgomery County

The passenger of a car involved in a wrong way crash on Thursday has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that caused physical injury.

ABC17 previously reported that the crash happened when a Cadillac Deville was driving east in the westbound lanes of traffic and struck a Hyundai Sante Fe.

Troopers said the wrong way driver and the passenger fled the scene on foot. A search began for the two suspects and a short time later Devon Kimbrough and Gerron Jones were found in the New Florence area.

When officers asked Kimbrough about his involvement with the crash, he said he was sleeping at a hotel when it happened.

Kimbrough said his roommate woke him up because an unknown person was knocking on their hotel room door to let them know about the crash.

According to the probable cause statement, broken glass was found in Kimbrough’s jacket and he was reported to be at a auto body shop trying to get the Cadillac back.

Kimbrough admitted to the auto body shop employee that he was the passenger of the car when it crashed.
