Mild afternoon with patchy fog likely through the night

FRIDAY: It’s a gorgeous afternoon across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures are already climbing into the mid and upper 40s. Thanks to breezy southwest winds up to 20 mph, temperatures will rapidly climb into the low to mid 50s into the afternoon hours. We’ll see plenty of sunshine through the day, which will allow snow to continue to melt across the region.

TONIGHT: Overnight lows will be back above freezing with the help of southwesterly winds up to 13 mph und partly cloudy skies. Clouds will build and we could see some patchy fog develop tonight thanks in part to melting snow.

EXTENDED: The warming continues into the weekend with high temperatures reaching the low 50s Saturday and upper 50s to near 60 Sunday. We’ll have more low clouds around Saturday with a slight chance of spotty drizzle in the morning with a better chance of drizzle Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sunday will feel more like late March as temperatures approach 60 degrees with gusty southerly winds up to 25 mph. As a cold front approaches, rain chances increase through the day Sunday with showers likely by late afternoon and into the evening. Rainfall amounts of up to a quarter of an inch are expected and much needed considering the drought conditions that have spread across the state. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible mainly in the Ozarks and southeastern Missouri. As colder air moves in early Monday, there is a slight chance of light rain on the backend of Sunday’s system. Rain could turn to snow by Monday evening, but only minor accumulation is expected. Temperatures will stay in the upper 30s to near 40 Monday and into the lower 40s Tuesday and Wednesday.
