Chilly afternoon, with above freezing temperatures by Thursday

WEDNESDAY: Despite the sunshine and southwesterly winds today, it will still be a chilly afternoon across Mid-Missouri. Highs will top out in the lower 20s for most of the region, as snowpack continues to keep us on the cold side. We’ll see some melting of snow through the day, which will freeze into ice and could cause some slick spots. Wind chill values through the day will remain in the teens, so bundle up if you are going to be outdoors.

TONIGHT: It will be a chilly night, but a tad warmer than the last two as low temperatures drop into the low teens. Winds out of the southwest up to 13 mph will drop wind chills into the single digits by morning under clear skies.

EXTENDED: Thanks to the Arctic high shifting to the east, we’ll continue to see our breezy winds out of the south on Thursday. This will give way to a very nice warming trend as we head into the weekend. Highs top out near 30 Thursday and near 50 Friday, with windy conditions expected ahead of our next system that will begin to take shape and arrive by next week. Sunday looks to be the warmest day of the next 7, with highs topping out in the mid to upper 50s. At the start of next week, our next system will sweep through Mid-Missouri and bring some much needed rain. Rain will spread from west to east on Sunday bringing light rainfall with a few pockets to moderate to heavy rain. Most of mid-Missouri looks to receive up to .50″. There is a slight chance we could see a few flurries into Monday, but overall it’s looking like we’ll see a mainly rain event.
