Mexico woman pronounced dead after crash in Garfield Park

On Friday at 1:32 a.m., the Mexico Department of Public Safety was called to Garfield Park for a vehicle in the park that had possibly been involved in a crash.

Sandra Gardner, 61, of Mexico, was found unresponsive in her 1999 Toyota Camry.

MPSD and personnel from Audrain Ambulance District tried to revive her, and she was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital-Audrain by Audrain Ambulance District, where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that Gardner was driving down the road and lost consciousness due to health issues. Her vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in the park near a tree.

There were no damages to the vehicle or any property in the park.
