Freezing temperatures across most of the 7-day forecast

FRIDAY: It will be a breezy start to the day as colder air continues to filter in. Clouds will clear by this morning leading to a sunny start to the day. We’ll plenty of sun through early afternoon before clouds increase again this evening. High temperatures will only reach the low 20s with northerly winds at 8-15 mph, producing wind chills below zero in the morning and single digits to low teens in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: It will be another cold night as winds remain breezy out of the north up to 15 mph, with gusts near 25. Overnight lows will drop back into the single digits with a negative wind chill factor under cloudy skies.

EXTENDED: The Arctic air will stick around through the weekend, keeping high temperatures in the low 20s Saturday and lows in the single digits Saturday night with partly cloudy skies. We are watching a couple fast moving areas of low pressure which will move through this weekend. The first of these “Clippers” will move through early Saturday but won’t have enough moisture to produce snow as it move into Mid-Missouri. The other which moves through Sunday could allow for some light snow across Mid-Missouri with a possible dusting to an inch of snow. There is also a chance of brief light snow or flurries Monday morning. Temperatures will stay below freezing through next Wednesday with slowly warming temperatures possible late in the week.
