UPDATE: Crews reopen lanes of I-70 westbound after crash involving livestock trailer, semi

UPDATE – 6:30 a.m.: Officials tell ABC 17 News 2,200 pigs were on the livestock trailer involved in the crash. They say the animals will have to be unloaded from the semi one by one.

UPDATE – 5:48 a.m.: Crews have reopened westbound lanes of Interstate 70 about an hour after the crash.

ABC 17 News confirmed the livestock trailer rear-ended another semi truck. As of 5:40 a.m., law enforcement was still on scene working to clear the wreckage.

ORIGINAL STORY: Emergency crews responded to a crash involving two large trucks on I-70 westbound Thursday morning.

It happened before 4:30 a.m. near the 123 mile marker. One of the vehicles involved was carrying pigs.

ABC 17 News crews on scene of the crash saw one of the trucks off the side of the road with heavy damage.

Crews are currently blocking off traffic in the westbound lanes.
