Columbia man sentenced to more than 10 years in prison after he pleads guilty to multiple charges

A Columbia man has pleaded guilty to three counts of resisting arrest and one count of property damage after events in April and June 2017.

John Atterberry, 43, admitted in court that he fled from deputies in April when they attempted to arrest him for a warrant issued in Warren County. He also admitted to breaking into a truck to steal and damaged the center console in the process.

Atterberry also pleaded guilty to fleeing from deputies on two other occasions.

The judge sentenced Atterberry to four years in prison on each of the resisting arrest charges and 5 years in prison for the property damage.

Atterberry also pleaded guilty to domestic assault and possession of a controlled substance after he was accused of assaulting a female victim by striking her in the face. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of diazepam.

The judge sentenced Atterberry to five years in prison for the asasult and 10 years in prison for the drug charge.
