Columbia police arrest man accused of crashing into pole, leaving the scene

Columbia police arrested Bryan Willard on Sunday after officers were dispatched to a leaving the scene accident at Business Loop 70 and Providence Road.

Police said one witness saw a truck with a lot of junk in the back drive over a curb and knock over a signal pole. The witness said she saw Willard quickly back up, leave and had a beer in his hand.

Another witness told officers they were able to get the license plate number of the truck and saw where the vehicle went.

Officers were able to find Willard and the truck. Police said they noticed a flat tire, damage to the front bumper consistent with hitting a pole and a beer can next to the vehicle.

Willard was arrested and faces possible charges of driving while intoxicated.
