Use caution this morning as dense fog and black ice are possible
TUESDAY: You’ll want to be cautious as you head out the door this morning, as both fog and black ice will be impacts for your morning commute. Dense freezing fog has settled into mid-Missouri causing for a Dense Fog Advisory to go into effect until 10 AM. Give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going as visibility will be limited to less than 1/4 mile and roadways could see some slick conditions. This afternoon we will continue to see warm conditions across Mid-Missouri as temperatures climb into the low to mid 40s. Winds will be out of the southeast up to 13 mph, becoming breezy as we head into the evening hours.
TONIGHT: With low level moisture remaining in place mid-Missouri could see continued fog through the overnight hours. Cloudy skies along with southeasterly winds up to 10 mph will allow for overnight lows to remain in the mid to upper 30s.
EXTENDED: Wednesday looks like the best day to get out and about with highs the mid 50s for most of us with a few spots reaching towards 60. We’ll see a shot at patchy drizzle as we head into the afternoon hours Wednesday, thanks to an approaching frontal boundary. This cold front will bring the best chance for rain by Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon. Temperatures Wednesday night will remain above freezing so any precipitation will start off as rain. A strong cold front will track through the area by early Thursday, which will usher in drastically colder temperatures for the afternoon. Thursday’s high of 49 degrees will occur during the morning hours as temps drop below freezing through the day, which will allow any rain to transition to snow after noon. Any accumulation of rain or wintry mix we see will likely amount to less than . 25″. Another shot of Arctic air will move in by the weekend with highs back below freezing. We are watching a Clipper System that will quickly move through the area by Friday night into Saturday morning. This could allow for some brief snow showers mainly in our northeastern counties.
