Dense fog and black ice possible overnight

TONIGHT: A dense fog advisory remains in effect for parts of Mid-Missouri through tomorrow morning. With cloudy skies and a very moisture rich environment, we’ll continue to see more fog develop into the night. Despite winds out of the southeast up to 7 mph, we’ll see lows bottom out near 30 degrees. This will allow for less traveled roads to see some black ice development by morning.

TUESDAY: You’ll want to be cautious as you head out the door tomorrow morning, as both fog and black ice will be impacts for your morning commute. give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going. We continue the great thaw across Mid-Missouri as temperatures climb into the low to mid 40s through the afternoon hours. Winds will be out of the southeast up to 13 mph, becoming breezy as we head into the evening hours.

EXTENDED: Wednesday looks like the best day to get out and about with highs the mid 50s for most of us with a few spots reaching towards 60. We’ll see a shot at patchy drizzle as we head into the afternoon hours Wednesday, thanks to an approaching frontal boundary. This cold front will bring the best chance for rain by Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon. Temperatures Wednesday night will remain above freezing so any precipitation will start off as rain. A strong cold front will track through the area by early Thursday, which will usher in drastically colder temperatures for the afternoon. Thursday’s high of 49 degrees will occur during the morning hours as temps drop below freezing through the day, which will allow any rain to transition to snow after noon. Another shot of Arctic air will move in by the weekend with highs back below freezing. Any accumulation of rain or wintry mix we see will likely amount to less than . 25″.
