Kansas man charged after high-speed chase in Boone County

A Kansas man has been charged with resisting arrest and fleeing creating a serious risk of death to any person after a high-speed chase in Boone County.

According to the probable cause statement, Joel Droge was driving a Kia that passed troopers going approximately 100 mph, while passing cars on the right shoulder.

Troopers said they attempted to pull over the Kia but the car continued to drive in speeds in excess of 100 mph when the speed limit was 70 mph.

The car approached traffic and tried to go around it but was slowed down. Troopers said they terminated the pursuit because it was unsafe.

Droge was later arrested in Lafayette County. Officers said that Droge was intoxicated with drugs.

Troopers described Droge as having constricted pupils. He was stumbling and staring. Droge was also described as sweating profusely and was confused.

Officers said they found an Adderall pill bottle inside of Droge’s car. Droge was also accused of being combative when he was getting arrested.

According to the probable cause statement, Droge placed numerous lives in danger as he operated his car in a careless and imprudent manner.
