Another blast of Arctic air set to arrive overnight
TONIGHT: A Wind Chill Advisory goes into effect for most of Mid-Missouri as we head into the evening hours, as another blast of Arctic air will arrive. Temperatures will plummet back towards 0 degrees through the night, with breezy winds out of the northwest up to 13 mph. This will have many spots feeling more like -15 to -10 degrees as sunrise approaches.
THURSDAY: The Wind Chill Advisory expires by noon Thursday, but it will still be bitter cold. To start of the day, we’ll see temperatures near 0-5 degrees for a good portion of the region, with wind chill values as low as -15. You’ll want to bundle up through the day, as highs only top out near 18 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds through the day will be out of the northwest up to 10 mph.
EXTENDED: Overnight Thursday into Friday morning, a clipper system to our north could graze parts of Mid-Missouri and bring a light dusting of snow. It will continue to remain on the cold side into Friday, but we do begin to see a warming trend. Friday’s highs will reach the lower 20s. Warmer air finally arrives as we head into the weekend but Saturday will still be quite chilly with highs approaching the freezing mark. Areas west of HWY 63 look to hold the best chance for above freezing temperatures on Saturday. Southerly winds will boost temperatures into the lower 40s Sunday across all of mid-Mo with the possibility for an AM wintry mix and PM rain showers. Early next week shows another cool down with highs in the 30s on Monday and dropping temperatures through mid-week. Watch ABC17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
