10th consecutive day of below freezing temperatures

TONIGHT: Overnight lows tonight will be warmer, but mid-Missouri is still in store for another cold night. Lows tonight will bottom out near 10 degrees by midnight, with slowly rising temperatures through the night. This will be aided by winds out of the southwest up to 15 mph and partly cloudy skies. With winds remaining breezy, we’ll see wind chill values anywhere from -5 to 5 degrees by Wednesday morning.

WEDNESDAY: A cold front will clear the region early Wednesday morning, which will lead to morning clouds for the first part of the day. As clouds begin to clear out through the afternoon highs will top out in the lower 20s. The cold air associated with the cold front really doesn’t track into Mid-Missouri until we head through the night Wednesday into Thursday morning. This cold air will once again come on the heels of a brisk northwesterly wind up to 20 mph, which will keep wind chills near 5 degrees through most of the day.

EXTENDED: Another surge of Arctic air arrives by Wednesday night, dropping us back into the single digits with highs only in the teens Thursday. Wind chills will likely be near -15 by Thursday morning. It continues to be dry through Friday as we stay below freezing. Friday’s highs will reach the lower 20s. Warmer air finally arrives as we head into the weekend but Saturday will still be quite chilly with highs approaching the freezing mark. Areas west of HWY 63 look to hold the best chance for above freezing temperatures on Saturday. Southerly winds will boost temperatures into the lower 40s Sunday across all of mid-Mo with a slight chance of rain or brief wintry mix by Monday morning.
