Thawing temperatures are in sight

TUESDAY : We stay in the deep freeze today with high temperatures in the upper teens to low 20s. The sun will be out, but you won’t feel it as winds will shift out of the southwest up to 8 mph, generating wind chills from near zero to 8 degrees in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Overnight lows tonight will be warmer, but mid-Missouri is still in store for another bitterly cold night. We will see partly cloudy skies and winds out of the southwest creating for a slight warm up after midnight tonight, but temperature by morning will drop back towards 10. Winds up to 10 mph will create wind chills near 0 for the morning commute.

EXTENDED: After a slight break with high temperatures reaching the lower 20s Wednesday, another surge of Arctic air arrives by Wednesday night, dropping us back into the single digits Wednesday night with highs only in the teens Thursday. Wind chills will likely be back below 0 by Thursday morning. It continues to be dry through Friday as we stay below freezing. Friday’s highs will reach the lower 20s. Warmer air finally arrives as we head into the weekend but Saturday will still be quite chilly with highs approaching the freezing mark. Areas west of HWY 63 look to hold the best chance for above freezing temperatures on Saturday. Southerly winds will boost temperatures into the lower 40s Sunday across all of mid-Mo with a slight chance of rain or brief wintry mix by Monday morning.
