Bundle up in extra layers for this New Year’s Eve!
TONIGHT: A wind chill warning will begin at 6pm tonight, with wind chills dipping to near -25 degrees. It takes exposed skin only 20-30 minutes to begin developing frostbite and it is imperative to bundle up with extra layers, make sure your animals are inside and that the little ones are properly bundled up as well. This is dangerously cold weather that is not typical for Missouri and extra caution is needed at this time.
NEW YEAR’S DAY : We will see a day similar to what we saw on Sunday with temperatures in the lower teens, while lows will be in the single digits south of I-70 and below zero north of I-70. Wind chills will be well below zero for the entire viewing area once again.
EXTENDED: We will exit the dangerously cold temperatures toward the middle of the week, but will still remain below average for this time of year. We are continuing to watch another cold front come through the area Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Frontal passage looks to remain dry at this point, but will dip us back into the low 20s & upper teens for day time highs on Thursday. Headed into next weekend, there looks to be a warm up in store with temperatures finally breaking the freezing mark. Watch ABC17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
