Glaze of ice possible late Friday

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 AM for a large portion of Mid-Missouri for the possibility of minor ice and snow accumulation. Freezing drizzle is expected to develop during the afternoon and continue into the evening hours before ending. Some snow is also possible mainly along and north of I-70 as colder air moves in this evening.

Precipitation amounts will be light with only a few hundredths of precipitation. Nevertheless, a glaze of ice can cause untreated roads and sidewalks to be slick, creating hazardous conditions. A light dusting of snow is also possible where snow develops this evening.

Temperatures will fall as another surge of arctic air moves in tonight and by Saturday morning, temperatures will be down to the low teens with wind chills near zero. Untreated ice will persist due to below freezing temperatures through next week.
