Columbia woman arrested after K-9 unit finds drugs in car

Columbia police arrested Jamie Girdner on Thursday afternoon after officers saw that the registration for her car did not match the actual vehicle.

Police said when they made contact with Girdner they saw her moving around inside the car. She then got out of the vehicle, took several quick steps toward the sidewalk and put her hands down the front of her pants as though she was trying to conceal something.

Officers said a K-9 unit was called to the scene and indicated there were drugs inside the car.

Police said they found several small pieces of methamphetamine, loose marijuana, two digital scales with drug residue on them and a plastic container filled with bags and rolling papers.

Girdner faces possible charges of possession of a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license.
