Blair Oaks R-II school district will host active shooter training event
The Blair Oaks R-II School District will be hosting an intruder response training course on Wednesday.
District officials said the course will work with the school staff on ways to respond to school intrusions involving active shooters.
School resource officers and deputies from the Cole County Sheriff’s Department will also be attending the event.
The training will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Blair Oaks Middle School gym and end at 3 p.m.
The staff will learn strategies associated with school violence and violence prevention and practical exercises intended to simulate the events that occur during a school intrusion.
Officials said multiple other schools will be participating in the event.
