Frigid weather continues, colder this weekend
TODAY: The clouds will stick around but it won’t be as cold as yesterday, but still unseasonably cool for this time of the year. We’ll see highs in the lower 20s through the day and wind chill readings remaining in the teens.
TONIGHT: Our lows will bottom out near 15 degrees as skies remain partly cloudy. We’ll begin to see our winds slowly shift around out of the west and northwest up to 9 mph, giving us wind chills in the single digits after midnight.
EXTENDED: Friday will be the “warmer” day as we reach the upper 20s to low 30s. A clipper system will track near the Iowa/Missouri border and could bring a few flurries to far northern Missouri, but most areas should remain snow free. Another surge of arctic air moves in for the weekend, keeping us in the low to mid teens for highs Saturday, dropping to to near zero Saturday night under mostly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of light snow Sunday as high temperatures only reach near 10 degrees. As we ring in 2018, temperatures will be near 0, dropping as low as 7 below zero by Monday morning. The arctic air hangs around much of next week with sub-freezing temperatures possible through next Wednesday. Watch ABC17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
