2 hospitalized after Highway 50 crash

Three people, including a 12-year-old, were hurt Saturday afternoon in a two-car crash in Jefferson City.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. in the 1500 block in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50.

Jefferson City Police said one car hit another while trying to change lanes. The car trying to change lanes then hit the median and overturned, coming to a rest on its side.

The driver and his 12-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police said another passenger in the car also had minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital.

Part of Highway 50 was shut down for about 30 minutes while officers investigated the crash.
