Tracking the last round of rain tonight, gorgeous weekend ahead

TONIGHT: Cloudy with showers and storms moving back in, especially south of I-70. Lows in the low to mid-50s. Watch for flooded roads in prone areas by sunrise.

TOMORROW: Lingering showers early with clouds holding on through the day. Highs in the lower 60s.

EXTENDED: Showers and storms off to our southwest will push in yet again tonight as low pressure works in from the southwest and brings another inch or so of rain to areas that have seen 2-3" plus since yesterday. Areas along and south of Highway 50 are in a Flood Watch through late tomorrow morning, an an areal flood warning is in effect for much of the southern quarter of the state including the Lake of the Ozarks. All this to say that there could be flooded roads again by morning, especially in areas sensitive to high water volume. The Missouri River is expected to rise into minor flood stage at Chamois and Hermann, but remain below action stage for Jefferson City and upstream. Smaller rivers and creeks are expected to crest at minor to moderate flood stage late tonight, including the Moreau and Maries Rivers near Jefferson City, and the Petite Saline at Boonville. Rain is generally more likely along and south of I-70 tonight with lighter showers expected into late tomorrow morning. Cloud cover sticks around for much of Friday, keeping us in the lower to mid-60s. We finally clear out by Friday night, allowing temperatures to drop into the upper 40s. Saturday is looking absolutely perfect with much welcomed sunshine and highs in the low 70s. Sunday begins a warming trend that will quickly ramp up next week. High pressure begins to build with southwest winds picking up in the upper levels of the atmosphere, getting us to about 80 degrees Sunday afternoon. Rain chances will be slim with a weak disturbance to our north, but we'll keep an eye on it. Next week marks a huge change in the pattern with largely dry weather and temperatures falling a degree or two short of records each day. Highs reach the upper 80s to around 90 through the end of the week. Record highs hover between 90-93 degrees Monday through Friday at Columbia. We don't see much rain in the forecast for the entire week, so it will be a good one to remember the sunscreen, turn on sprinkler systems, and hit the car wash.
