Mild start to the week, much colder by weekend

TODAY: Clouds will break up and clear by late afternoon and temperatures will be mild, reaching the low to mid 50s. Winds will be out of the southwest up to 15 mph.

TONIGHT: Under mostly clear skies, lows will only drop into the low 40s with a southwest breeze up to 8 mph.

EXTENDED: Spring-like weather will continue the next few days with high temperatures near 60 Tuesday, in the lower 50s Wednesday and jumping into the lower 60s Thursday under partly cloudy skies. Nights will only drop to near 40. A strong cold front will move in Thursday night, bringing a slight chance of rain as we head into Friday as colder air moves in to end the work week. Highs will drop into the 40s Friday with a chance of rain. The coldest air yet this season arrives for Christmas weekend with high temperatures only reaching the mid 30s Saturday and lower 30s Sunday with nights dropping into the teens and low 20s. While confidence is high regarding the cold blast by the weekend, there is still uncertainty on whether we will see snow on Christmas Eve. There are signs that we’ll tap into some moisture, which could bring us our first measurable snow of the season Sunday but anything we do get would be light.
