Mid-Missouri school districts alert families to school bus delays due to flooding

Three Mid-Missouri school districts are dealing with school bus delays due to flooding.

The Cole R-V School District in Eugene, Missouri sent a text message to families and staff Thursday morning that flooding may cause some school buses to run late.

Two school bus routes and part of a third for the St. Elizabeth R-IV School District were unsafe to travel due to high waters. Superintendent Doug Kempker said the school district would monitor all school bus routes ahead of this afternoon's dismissal.

The Maries R-I School District in Vienna, Missouri told ABC 17 News several school buses had to find different routes due to floodwaters on Thursday morning. Some students were unable to be picked up by the buses, according to the school district.

ABC 17 News is told the school district may consider an early release due to more expected rain Thursday afternoon.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team reports parts of Mid-Missouri have received more than two inches of rainfall.
