A 16-year-old Camdenton High School student was detained Tuesday morning after allegedly assaulting the principal.

A Camdenton school resource officer responded to the high school at 7:50 a.m. on the reported assault.

Officials say the principal questioned the student in the hallway where the student was not allowed to be and asked the student to come back to the commons area.

As they were walking back, the student allegedly pushed the principal in the back and then reportedly hit the principal in the head and face with his fist.

According to the press release, another student witnessed the assaulted and pulled the other student off the principal.

The 16-year-old student was detained and taken to the Camden County Juvenile Justice Center where he was incarcerated for third-degree assault.
