Hickman student taken into custody after police are made aware of social media post
UPDATE – 12/8: CPD officers arrested a 15-year-old student after a photo was posted to social media app Snapchat.
“The IP address checked to an address in the 2100 block of Whispering Meadows,” said Officer Latisha Stroer. “The juvenile was taken into custody at 1104 N. Providence Road for Making a Terroristic Threat and released to the Juvenile Office.”
Police said the student was holding a handgun in the photo and making a threatening statement.
ORIGINAL: Hickman High School officials sent out a letter on Thursday to parents alerting them about a student that was taken into custody.
The letter states that law enforcement received information about a social media post that was written by a student. Hickman administration and CPS safety and security cooperated with the investigation and a student was taken into custody.
Officials said the incident is being handled by Columbia police.
The letter did not go into details about what the social media post entailed.
