Two injured, several buildings in Randolph County damaged in storm
STORY: Two people were injured and multiple buildings were damaged in the wake of a storm that rolled through Randolph County Monday night.
Some of the first reports of damaging winds came in just before 5 p.m.
The American Red Cross stationed itself at the Moberly Police Department for a few hours before gathering information to go out and help people affected by the storm.
ABC 17 News was on Division Street in Higbee where one building, that was more than 100 years old according to the Randolph County Sheriff, was flattened.
At least two trailer homes and multiple small buildings like sheds were also destroyed in the county.
A woman was hospitalized after being injured in the storm. A child in a separate storm incident had an ankle injury and was also taken to a hospital to be treated.
In Renick, uprooted trees took out power. One tree even fell on a propane tank, breaking the valve and causing gas to leak. As a result, a neighboring railroad was closed, but was reopened shortly after the propane tank emptied.
The Randolph County Sheriff told ABC 17 News all that is left to do is wait for daylight to see the full extent of the storm’s damage.
UPDATE 9:03 P.M.: Ameren is now reporting 1,628 customers statewide are without power. This includes 9 customers in Cole County and 283 in Randolph County.
The Red Cross was briefly at the Moberly Police Department to find lodging for people affected by the storm. They are no longer there.
The Randolph County Sheriff confirmed a tree fell on a propane tank, breaking the valve and causing it to leak.
At least two people have been injured from the storm.
UPDATE 7:52 P.M.: The Moberly Police Department said Red Cross is now set up.
Ameren is reporting 439 customers are without power in Randolph County and 11 are without power in Cole County. 862 customers statewide are without power.
UPDATE 7:12 P.M.: The Moberly Police Department said there are several reports of residential fires, structure damage, and severe storm damage in the Clark, Renick, and Moberly areas.

UPDATE 6:45 P.M.: The Moberly Police Department confirmed the Red Cross will set up at its station Monday night.

The Randolph County Sheriff told ABC 17 News one person was taken to the hospital after a mobile home was destroyed on County Road 2550. The victim’s condition has not been released.
At least one other person was taken to the hospital in their own vehicle after an earth contact home was damaged on County Road 2650.
An ABC 17 news crew is at the scene where two travel trailers and a shed were also destroyed on State Highway AA in Randolph County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, and Moberly Police Department are searching for storm damage and victims.
