Columbia police arrest man accused of resisting arrest, having marijuana

Columbia police arrested Trevin Barnes on Friday morning after officers were patrolling the area of Duncan and McBaine.

Police said they saw two people slumped down while sitting in a vehicle near the intersection. When officers turned their car around, they saw Barnes exit his car and take off running.

Officers said they found Barnes in a nearby yard. Police also found two bags of marijuana.

Police said when they searched Barnes’ car they found a partially burned marijuana blunt on the center console and another bag of marijuana.

The total amount of marijuana found was less than 10 grams.

Barnes faces possible charges of resisting arrest and a misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
