Columbia City Council to vote Monday on future of second Broadway Hotel tower

After months of planning and explanations to the community, the owner of the DoubleTree Broadway Hotel will find out Monday night if the city will approve or deny his request for tax increment financing.

David Parmely, owner of the Broadway Hotel, applied for TIF in late April to redevelop land for a second hotel tower adjacent to the original hotel.

TIF would allow Parmley to develop and use the land while paying taxes on the current property value of about $4,500 for 23 years. To learn more about TIF and the hotel’s plan, click here.

The TIF commission voted Oct. 30 to advise city council to deny the tax incentive, but the council can still approve it if two-thirds of the council agrees.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
