UPDATE: One arrested after shooting on Claudell Lane
UPDATE – 11/30 – 4:15 pm: Donald has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to the probable cause statement, a witness saw a man approach Donald and begin to argue with him and get in his face.
At one point during the argument, the man asked if Donald was going to shoot him, Donald raised his gun, point it at the man and shoot it at him, police said.
Police said when they questioned Donald, he denied having a gun.
Officers said they found a holster on Donald’s person.
According to the probable cause statement, Donald has multiple felony convictions.
UPDATE – 11/30 – 8:15 a.m.: Columbia police took a Columbia man into custody Wednesday as a result of their investigation into a shooting on Claudell Lane.
Detectives arrested 32-year-old Todez William Donald after witnesses said he was seen exchanging gunfire with another person in the 1000 block.
“Witnesses described Donald and the other male arguing and Donald raised a handgun and shot at the other male subject,” said Officer Latisha Stroer. “The witnesses said the other male shot back at Donald and both ran from the scene.”
Investigators found bullet holes in the side of apartment 101 of building 1010, in a nearby vehicle and on an air conditioning unit attached to building 1008.
“Officers located numerous casings to two calibers of handguns and a small plastic bag of marijuana near the casings,” said Stroer.
Detectives arrested Donald on suspicion of armed criminal action, first-degree assault, unlawful for certain persons to possess a concealed weapon and unlawful use of a weapon.
UPDATE 4:30 pm: Columbia police said a building at Columbia Square Apartments and an air conditioning unit was struck by gunfire.
Police said they found multiple shell casings.
There have been no reported victims at this time, officers said.
Police said the investigation is on-going.
UPDATE 3:47 P.M.: One person has been detained for questioning after a shooting at Columbia Square Apartments. A building was hit and there were shell casings found at the scene.
It is still unclear if there were any victims.
ORIGINAL STORY: ABC 17 News crews are on their way to a possible investigation at Claudell Lane near Columbia Square Apartments.
The Columbia Police Department has confirmed that there is an officer on scene, but has not confirmed what the investigation is about.
Columbia Public Schools said they held dismissal for West Middle School for about 30 minutes, adding that the buses will be late. They also locked the exterior doors of the Aslin building.
Our Lady of Lourdes Interparish and their offices went on lockdown right before 2:00 p.m. and is still on lockdown due to the incident.
