MSHP reports 15 fatalities over Thanksgiving holiday counting period

According to an official release, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that 15 people died during the Thanksgiving holiday counting period from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017.

There were 400 crashes, 116 injuries, 15 fatalities, 127 DWIs and 117 drug arrests.

During the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday counting period, there were 400 crashes, 24 injuries, 14 fatalities, 103 DWIs and 100 drug arrests.

State Highway Troopers are advising drivers to pay attention to what they are doing, but what’s just as important is wearing your seatbelt.

Although seatbelts are something Troopers are wanting to enforce, they say a lot of the times these crashes occur from drivers simply being distracted.
