One killed in Boone County crash on West Gillespie Bridge Road

UPDATE 2, 11: 45 p.m.: The Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed one person was killed in a crash Wednesday night.

The person, a pedestrian, was hit by a car traveling east just before 10:15 p.m. in the 6700 block of West Gillespie Bridge Road.

The person has been identified, but deputies are not releasing a name until family can be notified.

The road remained closed for quite some time while emergency crews investigated the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

UPDATE: The road is closed while crews investigate.

ORIGINAL: Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash west of Columbia.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. in the 6700 block of West Gillespie Bridge Road.

At least one ambulance has been called to the scene.

Avoid the area, if possible.
