Troopers arrest driver in deadly Randolph County crash
UPDATE 11:30 am: According to the probable cause statement, Hartung was driving 89 mph when his Chevrolet crashed with the Ford.
Troopers said there was no signs of braking, indicating that Hartung was inattentive and following too closely.
A witness told troopers that Hartung was aggressively weaving between cars as he overtook them on the highway.
Hartun has previous charges of excessive speeding.
ORIGINAL: Troopers arrested the driver involved in a deadly Randolph County crash Thursday.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report shows troopers arrested James Hartung, 32, in Macon County on an active arrest warrant.
The Randolph County prosecutor charged Hartung Thursday with involuntary manslaughter stemming from an incident on Nov. 9. A judge issued the arrest warrant on that charge.
ABC 17 News reported, Marlene Mathis, 75, died in a crash on Highway 63 just north of Cairo. A highway patrol crash report said she was slowing down to make a right-hand turn when a Chevrolet Silverado crashed into her vehicle, causing both to overturn.
Hartung was the driver of the Silverado and received moderate injures. A passenger in his vehicle also had minor injuries.
ABC 17 News called the Macon County Jail Friday morning. Hartung has since bonded out of jail.
