Columbia man arrested, accused of sexual assault

A 22-year-old Columbia man is facing sexual assault charges after a woman said he held her down and groped her.

Columbia police arrested Connor Smith early Thursday after a reported incident in the 2800 block of Pine Drive.

The victim told police that she was watching television with Smith Nov. 10 when he grabbed her by the throat and groped her despite repeatedly being told to stop.

Smith was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual abuse and has since posted bail.
