Deep fryer blamed for Boone County house fire

Everyone is OK after a house caught fire in Boone County Thursday night.

According to the Boone County 911 dispatch page, emergency crews responded to the 4400 block of Brookview Terrace, just southwest of Columbia, shortly after 7 p.m.

The Boone County Fire Protection District told ABC 17 News the fire started in the home’s garage from grease after the residents attempted to deep-fry a turkey.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

Firefighters said a family pet was safely rescued from the home.

ABC 17 News is told the family will be able to stay at the home after the fire.

Investigators said the grease fire caused about $5,000 in damage to the garage.
