Columbia police report more than 100 guns stolen since January

Columbia police reported on Wednesday that 114 guns have been stolen since the beginning of the year.

Residents are asked to put their guns out of sight and secure them in a lockbox which is fixed to the interior of a vehicle if they do leave their weapons in their car, police said.

Officers said residents should always lock their cars and roll up their windows.

A sign with security reminders has been placed at Providence Road and Broadway.
