32 confirmed cases of the flu in Columbia

Doctors said two months ago they saw early cases of the flu in Mid-Missouri.

ABC 17 News pulled the updated flu cases for Columbia and the state of Missouri.

So far, there have been a total of 618 cases of the flu statewide compared to 32 in Columbia.

According to health officials, seven cases of the flu were confirmed in Columbia for the first week of November. That’s compared to 141 cases statewide during that same time period.

Symptoms of the flu include a fever, fatigue, body aches and a runny nose, among others.

Doctors and the CDC recommend getting a flu shot to avoid getting the virus.

According to the CDC, flu season starts in October or November and can last until March and into May.
