Man charged with being persistent DWI offender after admitting to drinking 16 beers before driving

A Boone County man has been charged with being a persistent DWI offender after officers responded to a crash on Highway 63 southbound and I-70 Drive southeast.

According to the probable cause statement, Nathaniel Irvin struck a car, drove into a guardrail, drove off and struck a second guardrail.

Officers said Irvin consented to a preliminary breath test and blew a .127.

Irvin told officers he had been driving the vehicle during the crash and had drunk 16 beers prior to driving.

According to the probable cause statement, Irvin had a suspended license and had been convicted of two prior DWI’s.
