UPDATE: Columbia police find vehicle connected to the pedestrian fatality on US 63

UPDATE 5:25 pm: Columbia police said they found the camper and driver that hit and killed Salvador on Saturday night.

Officers said someone was able to ID the camper from the photo they shared.

Police said the investigation is on-going.

UPDATE: The Columbia Police Department has identified the pedestrian killed in Saturday night’s crash on Highway 63 as Rocky Salvador.

CPD has also released an image of the possible “Dutchman” camper that was being pulled by the driver involved.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police said the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian on Highway 63 Saturday night left the scene of the collision.

A vehicle was heading north on U.S. 63 near the Route B Exit in the inside lane when it hit a pedestrian that was walking on U.S. 63 northbound, police said.

Police said the pedestrian, 34, of Columbia, was most likely intoxicated and was walking in the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle left the scene after crashing into the pedestrian, police said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the vehicle’s make and model is not known, but it is believed to have been pulling a white, 24-foot-long camper.

Police ask that if anyone has information about the vehicle to contact the Columbia Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
