Columbia police arrest man accused of stalking

Columbia police arrested Marvin Stemmons on Sunday morning after officers were called to a stalking incident that started at the Surburban Hotel on Wingate Court.

A female victim told police she was leaving the hotel when she saw Stemmons pull out from behind the hotel and start to follow her.

Police said Stemmons followed the victim to Brown Station Road, trying to flag her down, pulling up next to her and almost sideswiping her vehicle.

The victim told police that once she got to Brown Station Road, Stemmons got his vehicle in front of hers and turned his vehicle sideways to block the roadway.

Officers said the driver of the victim’s vehicle put the car in reverse to back up. Stemmons turned around to follow and started driving in the opposite lane of traffic, police said.

Stemmons faces possible charges of stalking.
