Police, fire investigate possible arson at Columbia hotel

The Columbia Police Department was called to help the Columbia Fire Department investigate a possible arson at the Columbia La Quinta hotel.

The call came in around 4 a.m. Monday morning.

According to a CPD sergeant on scene, the smoke alarm was going off inside the building. Guests were evacuated for less than an hour while firefighters investigated.

The sergeant said he didn’t have any reports of injuries or damage to the building.

Police do not have anyone in custody and the sergeant said it doesn’t appear to be an arson at this point.
